Togs + Clogs Press Day

So today me and my friend, Hannah, went to the press day for the Manchester based online, streetwear shop, Togs + Clogs. The event was held to showcase the brands and products they were stocking for s/s 2014.

As soon as we got there we were offered free drinks, sweets and snacks as part of the event. We were then shown around the space and the brands by a lovely man called JP. He took us around, gave us some background information on a few of the brands and was super nice!

A few of the brands I had already come across such as Grenson shoes, Carhartt, Billionaire Boys Club and Herschel Supply Co to name but a few. However one brand that I hadn't come across before was Armor Lux.

Armor Lux is a French brand started in 1938, making high quality underwear. In later years, they were taken over and have designed clothes from marine sweaters to airport staff uniforms. The brand specialises in classic items such as the timeless Breton stripe tee, one of the most reoccurring items in my wardrobe.
Their Spring/ Summer 14 collection encapsulates classic and cool style with a heritage feel. Knitwear for layering with these tees and washed canvas jackets were also a main feature. Although, it is predominantly menswear they also do womenswear and children's, which is brilliant. Shoes, hats, scarves, socks, you name it, it was striped.

Farah Vintage is another brand that they were showcasing for next season. With bold print shirts, classic sweaters and amazing bags, their collection was another highlight of the day for me personally. The section was encased with colour co-ordinated hanging rails, depicting next seasons on trend vintage prints. Tailored shirts and shorts were definitely a feature of the collection, with a few lightweight jackets for the rainy season.

There were a few other well known brands such as Penguin, a classic well known menswear brand, as well as Humor, New Balance, Saucony, BWGH, who are famous for the Brooklyn Parle Francais sweatshirts you will have seen. Another highlight for me was the cardboard dogs, which were used in their Look Book. The designs on the dogs are based on different patterns on a range of t-shirts, which are amazing.

"Classic Dog Moments" - even they get hungry!
All in all it was a lovely afternoon, extremely chilled yet exciting to see what Togs + Clogs had in store for us next season. I can honestly say people will be in for a real treat, so keep your eyes peeled.

There's loads more photos below and check out the store, they're giving 15% off to first time customers at the moment, so what's stopping you?! Their link is at the bottom of the page!

A.P.C X Carhartt '13

So, the latest drop from the A.P.C X Carhartt collaboration is here. I got an email in one of my lectures and I nearly shrieked with joy at this glorious news!

Everyone who knows me, knows full well that Carhartt are my favourite brand, from their womenswear to menswear, I love everything they do. I'm also a big fan of A.P.C, especially the coats and basic tees they do.

The first A.P.C X Carhartt menswear collaboration was released in Autumn 2010, with an unlikely match of heritage workwear and Parisian edginess, it worked superbly. With a range of smart jackets, such as the Detroit, basic pocket tees to beanies with the collaborated logo on them.

Their latest release encapsulates that yet again, with a smart range of menswear. From jackets to undies, what more could a man ask need for the upcoming winter months? Prices start from around £25 up to a whopping £610.

The concept behind the latest release is "If Six Was Nine". This derives from the Jimi Hendrix song of the same name, but how has this concept been imprinted in the collection? It's all in the watch. The picture of the watch face was leaked on Twitter by A.P.C founder Jean Touitou, and as you can see six is now nine. As to why eight is now 11 and why seven is now four, who knows, but a cool concept nonetheless.

Everything is available to buy on the Carhartt WIP store and A.P.C store.

Terrible Movement, ironically it isn't.

People who know me will now that I rarely live out of anything but a t-shirt and jeans or t-shirt and chino combination. So for anyone else out there who loves a good tee, go check out Terrible Movement.

They are an ethical fashion brand originating from London and Berlin, meaning you can wear their awesome clothes and not feel guilty about how and where it was made.

Everything from their collection is awesome and photographed and styled so well in their look book. The look book was shot on an old university campus in the Mitte District of Berlin by Berlin based photographer Alexandra Waespi. I've checked out some of her work and she is an amazing photographer and I fully suggest having a look at some of the stuff she's done.

I was going to pick the one thing out of the collection I would love to own the most and I just couldn't decide so I've picked out a few of my highlights for you guys to have a look at.

Jazz It Up A Bit

Grid 9000

Last week, I purchased a pair of Sauconys for the first time. This has been a brand that I've been wanting to buy into but haven't had the chance with my puny size 5 feet.

Saucony Jazz
Saucony are an American sportswear brand, catering predominantly for runners, but have recently targeted the fashion forward who enjoy a good trainer. They have done this through edgy silhouettes such as the men's "Grid 9000" and originals such as the "Shadow" and the "Jazz", which I am going to write about in this post.
I'd seen a few people wearing the Jazz silhouette, and noticed how nice the profile of the shoe was. With a chunky midsole, not unlike that of the New Balance 574, it has quite a tall appearance, yet it is still sleek and smart with the upper being a mixture of nylon and suede.

Out of all my collection, these are without a doubt the comfiest trainers I now own. I have literally worn them everyday for about a week. My biggest thing is that I walk to university everyday which is about a 25 minute walk each way, so for me comfy trainers are my number one must-have.

This classic comes in all number of colours from black, silver and white (which I went for) to a mix of bright neons being thrown about on one shoe, to brighten up the winter months.

The next point, which is amazing, is the price. The Jazz is retailed at £49.99, in men's and women's sizes. They look good, they feel good and they save you money! What more could you ask for from a trainer?!

They are available to buy on Saucony's website, www.saucony.com.
They are also available in some stores such as Size? for men's sizes and Foot Asylum. Women's sizes are also available from Foot Asylum. If anyone knows anywhere else sells them in women's sizes, leave a comment and let us know...
