Carhartt WIP SS 2014 Look Book

The end of the year is my favourite time of year because I get to peruse my favourite brand's look books for the upcoming and sunny seasons. This upcoming season from Carhartt looks set to be a bright and colourful one as well! Lots of new colours of camouflage in there, polka dots and new twists on chore jackets, which is what we like to see!

Beyoncé, you are the only one for me.

I don't normally post about music on this blog, but as this album is just unbelievable, I thought why not.

I downloaded Beyoncé's new album as soon as I heard she's dropped a secret album and I was buzzing with excitement. She is undoubtedly one of my favourite artists that I have listened to my whole life. From dancing in my room to "Crazy In Love" when I was 13 to this visual album that I can appreciate artistically at 21. However, I have still danced around my room to track 11, "Flawless".
That's exactly what this album is. Flawless. Only an artist like her could release a secret album at midnight and everyone go nuts over it and smash record sales, with no publicity or marketing. It just goes to show that she is a person who needs no introduction, as her music does not either.

She just released the full videos for some of the songs on the album, including "Drunk In Love" featuring Jay-Z, which is basically a song about how much she loves getting it on with him. Fair play to her. She also just dropped the video for "XO", probably one of my favourite songs on the album. Amazing.

Here are those two videos below, they are visually stunning and she looks amazing as ever. She is amazing. Obviously, I am in love with everything she does but I'll let you make your own minds up (I know you'll all love it though)!

Carharrt WIP X Uniform Experiment's Latest Collab

So, I got an email this morning about the new collaboration from Carharrt and Uniform Experiment. Many capsule collections have been created by these two brands in the past and they never seem to disappoint.

The products encapsulate Carharrt's classic silhouettes with a twist from UE, whether it be different fabrics, colour or their logo discreetly placed somewhere on the item. The latest collection also sees this with classic items such as canvas tote bags, hoodies, marled t-shirts and beanies. One thing that stands out for me is the 'Sid Easy Pant', which see the long loved silhouette of the Sid Pant taking on a whole new form with an elasticated waistband and jogger like material. Optimising comfort and still looking like the classic.

"Rainy Days" Stussy x NEXUSVII Holiday Collection 2013

Stussy have teamed up with Japanese brand NEXUSVII to create this capsule collection, consisting of two parts. The first part of the collection includes t-shirts and the amazing The North Face Nupste booties. The second part consists of Gore-Tex fishtail parkers, quilted varsity jackets, flannel shirts, 5 panel caps, beanies, cosy jumpers and sweatshirts.

I thought I'd do a post on the second part as it's a bit more relevant to this cold, blustery and rainy time of year. My favourite pick out of the second part of the collection is the purple fishtail parka, bringing a splash of colour to those drab winter days.

Everything is available to buy on the Stussy Japan web store.

Supreme x Levi's, looks like Carhartt to me.

Supreme and Levi's have just teamed up to do a Winter capsule collection for this season. The collection includes overall's, 505 zip-fly canvas jeans, a quilted denim shirt and Bell hat.
It also includes this fitted Trucker jacket.

Fitted Trucker Jacket
This is the Carharrt Nimbus pullover that I own and wore to university today.

Quite similar aren't they? The maple leaves in the pattern, the streaks of white amongst the green and khaki, the overall camouflage is uncanny.

It got pointed out to me today and I just wanted to bring it to attention. I can't tell you when this Carhartt coat is from as I actually bought it from eBay around two years ago.

Maybe this is a coincidence? Maybe this is Supreme taking inspiration from Carharrt? Maybe it's both brands taking inspiration from the great outdoors? They always say great minds think alike. Maybe too alike?

Christmas Wish List

Seeing as I haven't posted anything on here for a while (I hate you university), and it's coming up to that joyous time of year when we get given stuff we can't afford ourselves, I thought I'd write a little wish list for you all to have a look at.

As I've been extra good this year, I think it's time that I got some amazing presents so here's my top ten and where you can find them!

10. Nike Sneakerboot

Such a beautiful modernised silhouette for one of the classics. Air Max 90s have always been a staple in my trainer collection and these just take them to a whole new level.

9. Stussy Sport Satin Jacket

Luxury is the main element in this jacket, with the red satin lining just topping it off as one of my Christmas must-haves. The detailing is superb with the tiny embroidered logo on the bottom right of the arm and the little Stussy label on the bottom of the jacket.

Urban Outfitters

8. Carharrt X' Sid Pant in Camo Isle

These chinos are one item I can truly say I have been in love with. These have been on my wish list for so long now I can't even tell you and this colour is just beautiful. Unfortunately, and it's a big unfortunately, they are completely sold out in the camo. So Santa, you already know for next year now right?

7. Carhartt x A.P.C Logo Shirt

This collection is by far one of my favourites this year, keeping it clean and simple, just how it should be. You can read my post on this collection if you want to, however, just going to say here that I will love you forever Santa if you bring me this.

6. Fjallraven Kanken

My trusty little Kanken is finally starting to look a little shabby now after nearly two years of use, so maybe it's time Santa brought me a new one. This Mud/ Putty colour is the perfect winter colour combination, neutral and natural, which will go with pretty much anything.

Oi Polloi

5. Undefeated 13 Stripe Long Sleeve

Stripes, stripes and more stripes in my book. I love this shirt, with the embroidery on the front and back, and detailing on the bottom of the arm. The red is kind of festive too, much better than wearing an embarrassing Christmas jumper at the dinner table. Also available in Burgundy with Navy stripes.

4. Nike Pro Safari Moves Leggings

If there if any reason to get yourself to the gym after a Christmas of eating selection boxes it is these leggings. They are stunning. Even if you don't need to lose those extra pounds, these will make you want to go to the gym just to show them off. These leggings and motivation please Santa.

3. Patta Cord Crewneck

There is reasoning behind why this item is on my wish list...because it is perfect. Everything Patta is encapsulated in one sweatshirt, clean, bold, straightforward streetwear. The fact that it is now freezing and I need to layer is also partly why I need this.

£75.34 (€90)

2. Penfield Eska Down Insulated Shirt

Warmth, style and polka dots! `The insulated shirt from Penfield is the perfect outer layer, part of the new Penfield 'Blue Label' range for A/W 13. Being both functional and on trend with the polka dots, it's perfect to bring some Christmas cheer.

1. Asics Gel Lyte III

Last but not least is the number one on my wish list, Asics Gel Lyte III. As part of the "Christmas Pack" from them it's quite appropriate for them to be number on my list. Festive colourways with the bright red mixed with soft grey on the midsole and silky gold lining. This shoe from the pack represents Santa himself, so surely he'll bring me this at least?!

So there you go Father Christmas, now you know what to bring me this year I expect no lame presents that you have to pretend you love even though you wish your Nan had put the receipt in the box with it.

Togs + Clogs Press Day

So today me and my friend, Hannah, went to the press day for the Manchester based online, streetwear shop, Togs + Clogs. The event was held to showcase the brands and products they were stocking for s/s 2014.

As soon as we got there we were offered free drinks, sweets and snacks as part of the event. We were then shown around the space and the brands by a lovely man called JP. He took us around, gave us some background information on a few of the brands and was super nice!

A few of the brands I had already come across such as Grenson shoes, Carhartt, Billionaire Boys Club and Herschel Supply Co to name but a few. However one brand that I hadn't come across before was Armor Lux.

Armor Lux is a French brand started in 1938, making high quality underwear. In later years, they were taken over and have designed clothes from marine sweaters to airport staff uniforms. The brand specialises in classic items such as the timeless Breton stripe tee, one of the most reoccurring items in my wardrobe.
Their Spring/ Summer 14 collection encapsulates classic and cool style with a heritage feel. Knitwear for layering with these tees and washed canvas jackets were also a main feature. Although, it is predominantly menswear they also do womenswear and children's, which is brilliant. Shoes, hats, scarves, socks, you name it, it was striped.

Farah Vintage is another brand that they were showcasing for next season. With bold print shirts, classic sweaters and amazing bags, their collection was another highlight of the day for me personally. The section was encased with colour co-ordinated hanging rails, depicting next seasons on trend vintage prints. Tailored shirts and shorts were definitely a feature of the collection, with a few lightweight jackets for the rainy season.

There were a few other well known brands such as Penguin, a classic well known menswear brand, as well as Humor, New Balance, Saucony, BWGH, who are famous for the Brooklyn Parle Francais sweatshirts you will have seen. Another highlight for me was the cardboard dogs, which were used in their Look Book. The designs on the dogs are based on different patterns on a range of t-shirts, which are amazing.

"Classic Dog Moments" - even they get hungry!
All in all it was a lovely afternoon, extremely chilled yet exciting to see what Togs + Clogs had in store for us next season. I can honestly say people will be in for a real treat, so keep your eyes peeled.

There's loads more photos below and check out the store, they're giving 15% off to first time customers at the moment, so what's stopping you?! Their link is at the bottom of the page!

A.P.C X Carhartt '13

So, the latest drop from the A.P.C X Carhartt collaboration is here. I got an email in one of my lectures and I nearly shrieked with joy at this glorious news!

Everyone who knows me, knows full well that Carhartt are my favourite brand, from their womenswear to menswear, I love everything they do. I'm also a big fan of A.P.C, especially the coats and basic tees they do.

The first A.P.C X Carhartt menswear collaboration was released in Autumn 2010, with an unlikely match of heritage workwear and Parisian edginess, it worked superbly. With a range of smart jackets, such as the Detroit, basic pocket tees to beanies with the collaborated logo on them.

Their latest release encapsulates that yet again, with a smart range of menswear. From jackets to undies, what more could a man ask need for the upcoming winter months? Prices start from around £25 up to a whopping £610.

The concept behind the latest release is "If Six Was Nine". This derives from the Jimi Hendrix song of the same name, but how has this concept been imprinted in the collection? It's all in the watch. The picture of the watch face was leaked on Twitter by A.P.C founder Jean Touitou, and as you can see six is now nine. As to why eight is now 11 and why seven is now four, who knows, but a cool concept nonetheless.

Everything is available to buy on the Carhartt WIP store and A.P.C store.
